You have to have guts

This is the best animated explanation of the human microbiome I've seen. Also listen to the Radiolab piece about 'Guts'. Thank you Public Radio on both counts! This will explain all those times when people say that their stomach is talking.

Crystal Decanter and The Light

This afternoon's light.

Earlier this week I picked up Saul Leiter's Early Color on the recommendation of Sharon at Published Art in Surry Hills. Published Art is this great art and design shop on the ground floor of my office; I have to moderate my exposure there or I'd quickly deplete my bank account with purchases. I had never heard Leiter before (though his work really resonates with the kind of photography I aspire to). I've been looking for some photo inspiration for a while; now just seeking the right light and the texture of life to combine in camera.

Day Four and Wrap

Today was a huge shoot in the quad at Sydney University; I'm pleased with the whole production and eager to get into post this week. The story is going to be very emotional (and potentially controversial). More to come when I can actually say more!

Adversity, hope, education and the power of a song...

Well, without the makeup

Our lead actor on one of the ads this week is Wayne Pygram. I knew I recognised the name from somewhere and kept trying to think what I had seen him in. I didn't realise till the end of the shoot yesterday that he is a hugely famous cult sci-fi actor who played one of the most malevolent villains ever on Farscape! However, I think you can see from the comparison below, I might be forgiven for not immediately recognising him.

Mild mannered TAFE teacher...Evil alien...some hours of makeup and major change of demeanour between.

Pic from day two of filming

We had a great day of filming at a Sydney suburban school; continuing the story over the next two days and sincerely looking forward to seeing them come together in the edit! The best part about today was that we had given the kids worksheets to keep them occupied and they kept asking the actor playing the teacher to check their work!

This is set ten years in the past...does it have that 2003 look?
